Day 1: Monday: Tel Aviv
Welcome to Israel! Arrive Ben Gurion
Airport. Meeting, assistance and transfer to your hotel in vibrant Tel Aviv
Day 2: Tuesday: Tel Aviv
Begin the day with a visit to Ben Gurion House in Tel Aviv, former home of Israel's first Prime Minister; see his personal belongings and expansive library.
Continue along the coastal road to the Af-al-Pi-Chen Immigration and Naval Museum, which chronicles the heroic efforts to bring Jewish immigrants to Palestine; the exhibits depict moving stories of courage. Then, on to beautiful Rosh Hanikra; descend by cable car to see the magnificent underwater grottoes. Time to stroll through the quaint town of Nahariya before returning to Tel Aviv.B
Day 3: Wednesday: Tel Aviv
Drive along Tel Aviv's main streets; see the colorful shops and sidewalk cafes. Continue past the Mann Auditorium, home of the Israeli Philharmonic, Habimah Theatre and the impressive Opera House. Stop at Yitzhak Rabin Square, dedicated to the late Prime Minister. Drive south to Machon Ayalon for a fascinating glimpse into the activities of the former organization known as Haganah. On to the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, one of the world's leading research institutes. Then, to Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, which played a pivotal role during the War of Independence; see the reconstructed battlefield and visit the unique museum. Drive to Ashkelon's beautiful National Park; return to Tel Aviv via Ashdod, Israel's most important port. B

Day 4: Thursday: Tel Aviv
Visit the Haganah Museum, former home of the organizer of the Haganah movement, founded during the British Mandate. Continue to Natan Rappaport's brilliant bronze monument, the Scrolls of Fire, soaring in the scenic Judean Hills. On to the military junction at Latrun, once the border with Jordan; see the French Trappist Monastery and visit the Tank Division Memorial. Then, visit one of the most astonishing sights in Israel today - Mini Israel Park - where cities, towns and villages have been meticulously re-created on a miniature scale. You'll see parklands, buildings, people, religious sites and moving vehicles.B
Day 5: Friday: Tel Aviv
Drive to Maresha at Beit Guvrin National Park. Here, you'll see one of Israel's best preserved Roman amphitheaters, and the unique Sidonian and Bell Caves. Then, on to the lovely old 19th-century neighborhood of Neve Zedek - a jewel amongst the surrounding modern skyscrapers. Walk along the colorful and quaint narrow lanes dotted with gorgeous museums, cultural complexes and quaint shops. Continue to the old port city of Jaffa, magnificently restored. Spend the rest of the afternoon at lively Nachlat Benjamin with its delightful cafes and crafts stalls - the place to be on Friday afternoon! Tonight, Get Together Dinner.B/D

Day 6: Saturday: Tel Aviv
Morning walking tour. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy all of the delights of this seaside city. Don't miss the afternoon Israeli folk dancing on the seaside promenade!B
Day 7: Sunday: Tel Aviv/Haifa
Depart Tel Aviv. Drive to the Diaspora Museum; experience 2500 years of the Diaspora through unconventional visual
aids. Continue to ancient Caesarea; explore the astonding Roman and Crusader ruins including the impressive theater
and aqueduct. Then, visit newly opened Caesarea Harbor, with its thrilling, multi-media presentation-you'll see
ancient history come to life! Arrive in Nazareth, the sacred town where Jesus spent part of his youth; visit the Church
and Mary's Well. On to the sparkling port city of Haifa; check into your hotel atop Mt. Carmel. Travel to a Druze Village high atop the Carmel Mountains - meet these unique Israelis in their homes! You'll
be their guests for an authentic Druze Dinner - complete with fresh-baked pita and home-cooked food! B/D
Day 8: Monday: Haifa/Tiberias
View the golden-domed Bahai Shrine and the colorful Persian Gardens before departing Haifa. Travel along the coastal road to the timeless Crusader city of Acre; walk through the subterranean city and the colorful bazaars, recalling the Middle Ages. Continue to Tzipori, 1st-century capital of the Galilee, one of the most important archeological sites in Israel today. Then, on to Safed, one of Judaism's holiest cities; visit the ancient synagogues and the Artists' Quarter. Late afternoon boat cruise on the tranquil Sea of Galilee takes you to Tiberias on the lake's shore for overnight. Dinner at a seaside restaurant.B/D

Day 9: Tuesday: Tiberias/Jerusalem
Plant trees in the impressive Golani Junction Forest, to commemorate your trip to Israel. Drive to Capernaum; see the ruins of the ancient synagogue dating back to the 5th century. Then, drive along the rolling Galilean Hills; ascend the strategic Golan Heights. Arrive at Kibbutz Kfar Charuv, settled by Americans and Israelis together. Enjoy the hospitality of the "kibbutzniks" as you tour the kibbutz and share lunch with its members in the communal dining room. Travel to Bet Shean, an ancient city from the time of King Saul; see the remains of a Roman city. Continue to the golden city of Jerusalem for overnight.

Day 10: Wednesday: Jerusalem
Visit the scale model of the city from the time of Herod the Great. Continue to the Hadassah Medical Center to see the brilliant Chagall Windows. On to Yad Vashem, memorial to the Holocaust; visit the Museum, Children's Pavilion and walk along the Avenue of the Righteous. Then, to Mount Herzl to pay respects to Israel's military heroes. Drive via the Supreme Court Building and the Knesset to the Shrine of the Book, home of the Dead Sea Scrolls (presently closed for renovations) . Time to walk through the Israel Museum and the Billy Rose Sculpture Garden. Restaurant Dinner and Night Tour.

Day 11: Thursday: Jerusalem
Enter the Old City from the Dung Gate; walk to the Western Wall. Witness joyous Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah ceremonies! View the Dome of the Rock. Drive to Mt. Zion to visit the traditional Tomb of King David and the Room of the Last Supper. Proceed to the restored Jewish Quarter; walk along the Cardo, the main street of Byzantine Jerusalem. Visit the Herodian Mansions, an excavated residential quarter, or, walk through the extraordinary Hasmonean Tunnel (tunnel schedule permitting.) Follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre; walk through the exotic bazaars. End the day with an optional tour to Bethlehem.B

Day 12: Friday: Jerusalem
Travel via the Judean desert and the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, to Masada. Ascend by cable car to this last stronghold of the Zealots in their struggle against the Romans. Then, opportunity to enjoy an "unsinkable" swim in the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea. (We provide the changing facilities and lockers.) Drive via the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, on your return to Jerusalem. Evening: Traditional Friday Night Dinner.

Morning walking tour with your Tour Director to the Museum of the History of Jerusalem at David's Citadel, and to the Old City. Remainder of the day at leisure. B
