ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1:  Monday, April  23rd ,2012 – Departure

Gather at Pearson Airport for an evening departure onboard Air Canada (at 17:05).  Israel here we come.

 

Day 2:   Tuesday, April 24th  – Israel Here we come

Bruchim Ha’Baim’ Le’Israel. Arrival at 10:00 at Ben Gurion airport, meet our guide and driver for a ‘get acquainted’ panoramic drive through Tel Aviv, Israel’s ‘White City’ to the elegant Hilton Hotel.       Free afternoon to enjoy the city the beautiful beach and rest.  D

 

Day 3:  Wednesday, April 25th  – Tel Aviv

 

We begin at Jaffa to experience a great view of Tel Aviv from the south and walk around the art galleries and the narrow alleys of this ancient city.  Continue to Independence Hall where the State of Israel was declared by the Jewish leadership presided over by the head of the Jewish agency, David Ben Gurion. Continue to the Palmach Museum for a multi media presentation depicting the story of the Jewish commando units before the war of independence.  We will walk through the beautiful Neve Zedek the new “in” area, originally Tel Aviv’s first neighborhood, and then tour the colourful ‘Shuk Hakarmel’.  Special Dinner experience at ‘Badolina’, in the heart of hustling and bustling Tel Aviv port. BD

 

 

 

Day 4: Thursday, April 26 – En route to Jerusalem

 

We then head south towards Rehovot for a unique visit to Machon Ayalon the ammunition factory that operated secretly before the War of Independence.  We see the renowned Weizmann Institute.  On to at Latrun, once the border with Jordan; see the French Trappist Monastery. Visit the Tank division Memorial.  As we approach Jerusalem we participate in Shehechiyanu Ceremony at the gates of Jerusalem. Check into the deluxe Mammilla Hotel located in the heart of the new outdoor mall leading to Jaffa Gate.    BD

 

Day 5: Friday, April 27th  Old City of Jerusalem

 

We begin our visit at the Kotel; - The Western wall of the Temple. We tour the Rabbinical Wall Tunnel along the western side of Temple Mt. visit the Davidson Center to see a wonderful multimedia presentation if the temple. Then on to the South Wall proceed to the Cardo the colonnaded main street of Byzantine Jerusalem. Visit the Jewish Quarter and there the Herodian mansion. Enjoy the oriental Bazaars. Visit the City of David the ancient capital of the Israeli kingdom.  Learn about Jerusalem’s water supply in ancient times.    Return to the hotel to get ready for Shabbat. Enjoy a traditional Shabbat dinner at the hotel.      BD

 

 

Day 6: Shabbat, April 28th – Free Day in Jerusalem

Free day to relax or worship at one of the many synagogues.  Optional Walking tour will be available for those interested. The evening is free to explore the culinary delights of Jerusalem.  B

 

Day 7:  Sunday, April 29thNew City of Jerusalem

 

We begin our touring day at the new Yad Vashem, the holocaust memorial. Visit the new exhibit, the valley of Dead communities and the children’s memorial. Continue to the Israel Museum to the shrine of the book, home of the Dead Sea scrolls. Drive via the Supreme Court Building and the Knesset.  Then a geopolitical tour of Jerusalem and its surroundings.  We will visit the defense wall to understand how it affects the life of Israelis and Arabs who live in this divided city. Return to the hotel.  Dinner at a restaurant in Jerusalem. After dinner enjoy an unforgettable Light and Sound show at the Tower of David. BD                

 

Day 8:  Monday, April 30th – Caesarea – Galilee

 

Following breakfast we drive to the Hadassah Medical Centre in Ein Karem to marvel at the famous Chagall Windows.   We then bid farewell to Jerusalem and head to the coastal Ancient city of Caesarea, Capital of Judea under the Romans. Here we visit the newly excavated Hippodrome and the exciting multi media presentation that communicates through historical characters and follow the history of this fascinating city. Continue to Haifa to view the Baha’i Temple from the German Colony And on to Kibbutz Lavi - Hod wing for a Kibbutz style dinner and overnight. BD     

 

 

Day 9: Tuesday, May 1st – Golan

 

Mt. BentalWe cross the valley to ascend to the Golan Heights.  We begin at Katzrin, capital city of the Golan.  We visit the local winery where some of the best Israeli wines are produced. We continue to Mt. Ben Tal to experience a great view of the Golan and across the border of Syria. Proceed to the Banias one of the sources of the Jordan River and drive to the picturesque city of Safed, where  the Kabala was born for a visit of the ancient Synagogues and the artist colony.  Return to Tiberias for an unforgettable evening cruise on the Sea of Galilee followed by Dinner at our Kibbutz. BD

 

Day 10: Wednesday, May 2nd – En Route to the Dead Sea

 

We start the day with a visit at Beit Shean, The “Scythopolis” City.  Israel’s largest archeological park, to visit the excavations from the Roman periods which are slowly being restored after two thousand years. We drive along the Jordan River and after a short stop at an observation point we descend to the Dead Sea – the lowest point on earth and check in at the Isrotel hotel for a great swim in the Dead Sea and enjoy the black mud and the Spa facilities.  BD

 

 

Day 11: Thursday, May 3rd – Massada, Eilat

 

Spend the morning at your leisure, enjoy the Dead Sea, enjoy the  amazing Spa at the hotel or go shopping for Dead Sea products. In the early afternoon ascend the fortress of Massada to view the Herodian palaces, Synagogue and the new discoveries of the water supply system and more.  Continue to Eilat via the Arava Road to the most southern city in Israel to check into the luxurious beachfront “Harrods Palace Hotel” and have the rest of the evening free to explore this extraordinary place.           BD

 

Day 12: Friday, May 4th – Eilat

 

We start the day by visiting Timnah and the amazing King Solomon’s Pillars followed by an early afternoon visit to the underwater observatory. Enjoy the rest of the day in sun the sea or shop in this VAT free zone.  Friday night ‘Farwell’ Dinner.  BD

 

 

 

 

Day 13: Shabbat, May 5th – Free day in Eilat, Petra

 

.Free Day to enjoy this wonderful resort OR join us for an optional tour to Petra in Jordan which was recently replaced the Eiffel Tower and declared as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.  B 

 

Day 14:  Sunday, May 6th – Eilat /Tel Aviv

After Breakfast Check out, fly back to Tel Aviv for your flight back to Canada at 12:05 arriving in Canada at 18:30.             B
